The Universal Objective Justification Absurdity Unraveled

From Luther, Melanchthon, Chemnitz and the BoC editors:
however, this Chief Article of the Christian Faith is repudiated by
the hacks, frauds, and jackasses of the American synods.

In spite of claims made about the Scriptures alone, the synods are weighed down with many layers of infallibility.

The synods cannot be wrong, because they imagine they were orthodox at birth - even the decidedly unionistic WELS - from day one - as Mirthless Mark Schroeder once claimed. That alone is a heavy burden.

Pope John the 22nd foresaw the dangers of papal infallibility, sticking him with the declarations of previous pontiffs. He saw the reasoning of his opponents, to prove a predecessor right rather than a frontal assault on the current pope-king as wrong.

The American Lutherans have pinned themselves down in another way, like Gulliver, with the infallibility of Lilliputians like Walther, Pieper, Stoeckhardt, and JP Meyer. The Norwegian Pietists fought for UOJ against the Swedish Pietists - how could the Norwegian Pietists - the Preus Clan - be wrong?

That would mean the formation of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod had more to do with defending the rationalism of Halle Pietism.

This the new improved version of JP Meyer's classic blunder, but he taught 50 years.
How could he be fallible?

The Merger of the Atonement and Justification by Faith
Universal Objective Justification - also known as Objective Justification and General Justification - is a merger of two Biblical teachings, yielding a false doctrine derived from Calvin, not Luther.

The UOJ seals are taught to clap their flippers and say "Calvinist! Calvinist!" whenever they hear "Justification by Faith." Their trainers toss them a fish for their efforts.

The merger is simple but absurd - the Atoning death of Jesus is the absolution of the entire world. That is the UOJ dogma, in spite of the weak appendage - that Subjective Justification is agreeing with the absolution of the entire world.

Do not yammer at me about that. Ask Walther. That is exactly what he wrote, and the ELS loves him for that.

#1 - Universal absolution without faith, at the resurrection.
#2 - Accepting - that is making a decision - for this universal absolution.

One ELS pastor wanted to make a big point that the words are from the Calvinist translator of Knapp, not from Knapp Hisself. That is a weak objection, given that I am frequently called a Calvinist by UOJists. Even more to the point, Germany adopted the OJ/SJ scheme and Walther liked it. Thus OJ/SJ made its
way back to America via the Germans and Walther, where the terms fester, infect, and grow to this day.

The Merger Unmerged
The Atonement is the mystery revealed by the Holy Spirit in the Word - and proven with many Old Testament passages - that Jesus died for all the sins of the world.

Luther often called this "The Treasure." This treasure of the Atonement lies in one pile until the Holy Spirit distributes it through the Means of Grace, which imparts forgiveness received in faith through the Sacraments and the Word. Thus the Book of Concord, following Luther - member him? - emphasizes both the Atonement and the necessity of faith.

The foundational Biblical doctrines of the Book of Concord are studiously ignored by the ELS-ELCA-LCMS-WELS-CLC (sic):

  • Justification by Faith - they like Justification alone or OJ, making OJ the Chief Article.
  • Means of Grace - like all the National Council of Churches, they are head over heels in grace but allergic to the Means of Grace.
  • The efficacious Word - everyone is in love with Barth's concept of the Bible containing God's Word but not being God's Word. Proof? Their Biblical ignorance is astounding.
The editors of the Formula of Concord commended
the Galatians Lectures for studying the issue in more depth.
Too bad the ELCA wannabees have not done this.
